In response to many past food alarms, such as BSE, Salmonella poisoning in infected beef, poultry and eggs, and high levels of Listeria in dairy products, the BRC (British Retail Consortium, a British trade organization representing the interests of British retailers) has introduced minimum hygiene standards in food production facilities. BRC – Global Food Standard, which determines the food standard, has been published.<\/p>

BRC \u2013 The Global Food Standard is designed for retailers who supply food products to UK retailers, regardless of the product or country of origin. Although compliance with this standard is not a legal requirement, it is considered mandatory by British retailers.<\/p>

To meet the standard, food suppliers\/manufacturers must adopt three main criteria in their management systems:<\/p>
